Hundreds of man-years of parachute engineering expertise
The Largest Scope of Parachute Engineering Services Available Anywhere
A Systems Approach With a Complete Solution
Fabric Design
Engineers within the Airborne Systems team are expert in the use of all types of fabrics applicable to parachute design and production. They work with all modern fibers and continually monitor developing technologies in fibers, fabrics, film and coatings. Knowing when to specify a particular fabric and the joining of various classes of fabric is an integral part of their expertise and an important service to help customers reduce cost and achieve the best performance.
System Engineering
An extensive set of system engineering tools are applied to every parachute project. Standard are the Integrated Master Schedule and Plan, Specification Compliance, Validation Tracking and Risk Assessment. Additional comprehensive system engineering programs such as Technical Performance Measurements and Multi-Level Specification Requirements Databases are available and used depending on the program and customer need.
Systems Analysis
There are no greater systems analysis and predictive parachute performance capabilities than those available to the Airborne Systems customers. Unmatched analysis exists in parachute trajectory modeling and simulation, finite element analysis of metal parts, fabric structure and impact dynamics analysis, fluid structure interaction and floatation stability. These best-of-class analysis and predictive capabilities are used to optimize the parachute design, reduce cost and development time and speed time to delivery and use.
Mechanical Design
Metal parts and mechanisms are key elements of all parachute systems. Airborne Systems provides its customers with extensive mechanical design expertise of critical mechanical parts and mechanisms including metal fittings in the parachute structure, servo actuated devices, adaptive structures to interface with the customer vehicle, parachute compartmentation, and integration with pyrotechnic class controls and actuators.
Control Systems
Airborne Systems provides controllers for test, demonstration or production flight and easily integrates with pyrotechnic and electro-mechanical class actuators. Customers can also count on engineering knowledge of parachute system controller design to support their own design.
Product Testing
The product test capabilities, validating product performance to standards and specifications, are unique in the industry—from seam and joint element testing, flight testing and qualification of parachute systems, airbag drop, water landing, environmental, acceptance, and installation testing through highly complex supersonic wind tunnel testing.
Program Management
Experienced Project Managers prepare detailed cost reports, schedule, and technical performance on a regular basis and provide a methodology to realize important cost improvement. Configuration control is used to manage all changes to design and documentation throughout the life of the product.
Packing and Rigging
Extensive packing and rigging capabilities available to Airborne Systems customers include packing tables long enough to rig and pack the world's largest parachute cluster.
Parachute Logistics Support
The most complete parachute logistics support is available to international customers. The wide range of services include maintenance, repair, repacking, storage and transportation of all man-carrying and supply dropping parachutes and associated equipment, in-service support, problem solving and the development of equipment and materials to meet specific operational and training requirements.
