Para-Flite,
Inc. was founded in 1969 to develop, manufacture and market gliding
parachutes based on several U.S. patents, and has led the industry
with a continuous string of innovations in the field of ram-air
gliding parachutes. Para-Flite’s structure, founded on innovation,
top quality manufacturing and technical excellence paved the way
in 1995 for its assimilation into the Airborne
Systems Division of Wardle Storeys PLC and ISO 9002 certification
in 1998.
Wardle Storeys, an industrial
conglomerate, was quoted on the London Stock Exchange before being
taken private by Alchemy Partners in January 2000. Alchemy, a private
equity advisory business based in London, recently acquired Irvin
Aerospace, a well-known company in the field of military parachutes
and related air and naval products, and has placed it under the
umbrella of the Airborne Systems Division, now operating as Airborne
Systems in the United Kingdom and North America.
